My mother, Alene, turned 90 on February 18, 2010, and there was a big party for her.

Alene was very excited to see everyone at her birthday party, even though many had to cancel because of blizzard conditions. Her brothers from Colorado and western Nebraska were ones that couldn’t attend due to the road conditions. But, there was quite a crowd, and she loved to talk to each and every one of them.

Alene is 89 years older than her great-grandson Oliver, but they both use walkers.

Six of Alene’s nine great grandchildren are shown in this picture; ages range from 11 months to almost 11 years. From l. to r.: Phoebe, 11, Oliver, 11 mos., Jacob, 10, Isaac, 8, Joshua, 1.5, and Carly, 7. The other three great grandchildren, Amelia, Sarah and Abigail live too far away and couldn’t make it.

This photo has nothing to do with Alene’s 90th birthday, except for the fact that these two little cousins interacted for the first time in their young lives.
Thought for the day: I was so ugly, my mother used to feed me with a slingshot. Rodney Dangerfield.
