Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore is one of my favorite National Parks; I’ve been there several times in my life and never get tired of it.

Mount Rushmore

I get goose bumps every time I visit Mount Rushmore.

Our family vacation (reunion) was in the Black Hills this year, so we all went to Mount Rushmore together.  The group picture below includes our three grown children and their children.  I was surprised how easy it was to get this picture during the busy early evening hours.  I set up my tripod in the middle of the broad sidewalk, arranged the group in front of the camera, and used my wireless remote shutter release to take the picture.  The sidewalk was busy with other tourists, but most of them (all but one) took a wide detour around our group so as not to interfere with the picture.  The one exception was a teenage girl, eating an ice cream cone, who was in her own world and walked right through the middle of us while I was snapping away.  I yelled at her (jokingly) to bring her back down to earth.  She was very embarrassed and we all got a big laugh out of it.   I got some funny pictures of her surprised and shocked expression too.

Family Picture

There were still a few people on the side and in the background of this shot, but I was able to “erase” them in Photoshop.  We all thought this photo was “Christmas Card Worthy”.

Thought for the dayNever, under any circumstance, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
