Thursday, January 2, 2014. Typically, I use this day to check all my moving parts to see if I survived New Year’s Day, a day to recover from watching 8-10 football games, and think rationally about the long term impact of college football won/loss records. But, the bowl season isn’t over yet.
Tonight is the Sugar Bowl, tomorrow is the Orange Bowl, and the BCS National Championship game isn’t until next Monday. Bowl season is spread out now because of so many games (35): even mediocre teams go to post-season bowl games, teams with 6-5 records, for cryin’ out loud! (Geez, just another sign of our country’s willingness to accept and even reward average performance. But, I digress.) There were only six games this New Year’s Day.
While waiting for the remaining bowl games, I’ll get started on my winter projects: income taxes, cleaning out file cabinets, photo sorting, medical records, desk cleaning, record keeping, updating contact lists, diet and physical fitness. Aaargh!
Thought for the Day: Anybody who watches three games of football in a row should be declared brain dead. Erma Bombeck
