I was leaning on the railing of the public fishing pier on Sanibel Island, FL. The bird was on the opposite railing of the pier. Neither of us moving. I was looking at the bird, but was he looking at me?
He could be looking straight ahead, directly at me, or staring off in the distance thinking about the future, hard to tell. At least with horses you can tell where they are looking by which way their ears point. At any rate, the bird was very intense, motionless, allowing me to get a nice sharp image.
Today, I feel like that bird looks. I’m looking ahead to the new year, anticipating a good year, while avoiding any grandiose resolutions that might later dampen my spirits.
