I found these tiny Crocs lined up neatly outside the door of a well-kept modern looking house at the Neema Orphanage on the road near Moshi, Tanzania.
They belonged to the 4-5 year old group shown at left, a real bunch of live-wires. The facilities were very nice, and the kids looked well-cared for, but there was a severe lack of learning materials in sight; e.g. books, blocks, etc.
They welcomed us with songs, “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and “Bah, Bah Black Sheep”, both in English and a “Welcome” song in Swahili. They were a lot of fun.
Thought for the Day: There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children. Nelson Mandela
