Quiet Time
Quiet Time

The first real warm day of the summer, with the sun taking its sweet time to set.  The day was long, giving the cousins plenty of time to reconnect, and many fun-filled memories:   swimming in the lake, minnows, sand toys, sun screen, rope swing over/into the water, sand between the toes, sand castles, fish bait, jumping off the dock, fish jumping, snacks, washing your hands in the lake, lost lures, paddle boats, ice cold sodas, tangled fish line, playful dogs barking at the swimmers, fish stories, playing catch in the water, floaties, wet towels, wet dog smell, bugs, shivering until your swim suit dried, hot dogs and burgers, bull frogs, inner tubes, the row boat, goslings paddling between their proud Canadian parents, water fights, tracking sand into the house, the hammock, fire pit, and smores.

Drop a line in the water and catch your breath, while waiting for your turn to roast marsh mellows.  Even seven year olds need some quiet time.

Thought for the Day:  Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.                                                                                                                                            Helen Keller

  1. Will you adopt me as your very old grandchild? J These kids will never forget their grandparents and the wonderful memories you’ve made for them.
