Pastor Larry

Pastor Larry, Devotion at Israel’s Jordan River -2015

I met Pastor Larry Arganbright over 40 years ago.  During that time he has been my pastor, mentor, and role model.  Earlier this week, he was laid to rest after succumbing to a cancerous brain tumor at 70 years young.

He led his flock with humility, humor and dignity without ever the slightest hint that he was holier-than-thou.  I always thought of him as the poster child for “leading by example”.  He didn’t preach; he was transparent, offering himself to judgement and criticism by sharing his pain and shortcomings while feeling for yours, always applauding your success, and eager to laugh — with you as well as at himself.

But most of all he was a good dear friend that I will always remember and surely miss.

Thought for the DayEvery man’s life ends the same way.  It is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguish one man from another.                                                                                                                                                            Ernest Hemingway
