Cades Cove – Great Smoky Mountains NP
Cades Cove is the most popular spot for visitors to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It was nothing like I expected. Where I come from in the Mid West, a cove is a water feature; i.e. a protected or sheltered inlet of a waterway.
But, according to Webster’s Dictionary, a cove is also “a level area sheltered by hills or mountains”. Bingo, that’s what I found in Cades Cove; i.e. vast meadows surrounded by lush woodlands on the hillsides of the Appalachians.
It was just dad gum beautiful!
Thought for the Day: You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting … so, get on your way!

Enjoy Larry! We’ve been to the Smoky Mountains a couple times for family reunions. Cades Cove is beautiful and you have captured it well! Have a terrific trip and I look forward to seeing what you capture on “film” and reading your insights.
