9/11 Tribute

Last week’s Friday night high school football games fell on September 11, and I was very impressed by the students at the game I attended. Their respect for the American flag and National Anthem was real. No jeering, no pranks, and no one calling attention to themselves by taking a knee — just silence.

The tribute and recognition of September 11, 2001 was also treated with respect. None of the students were even born when this horrific event changed the course of history, yet they understood the significance of the date.

The respect for the flag and love-of-country is still alive!

Thought for the Day: Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.

  1. Beautiful picture of your beautiful granddaughter. When we were in New York for Debbie’s wedding we all went to ground zero and Jackson and Sam were really impacted! At that time it was mostly blocked off and was still undeveloped but one of the things that got to Sam was a fence covered with tiles that were made by the children of those who perished. I want to take them back sometime and see the memorials that are there now.

  2. Right on Larry! I was the timekeeper for a high school football game last Friday night. Both teams stood proudly for the anthem, right after a prayer asking for mercy for the lost souls on 9-11 and safety for the players during the game.As it should be!Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
