Sagging Barn

Another interesting site I found along Sargent-Ord Road in northeast Custer County, Nebraska is this barn squatting on its haunches. With the words, “Cross Wind Mercantile” painted on the front, it appears to have been a business, possibly an antique dealer.

The white vinyl fence in front looked totally out of place, as did the 6′ tall cyclone fence topped with barbed wire on the sides. The cyclone fencing was the same used around the Comstock Windmill Festival just down the road.

Who knows? The Cross Wind Mercantile may be open for the Comstock Wind Mill Festival in June, 2021. Mark your calendar.

Thought for the Day: Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
