On May 6, 1975 an F4 tornado (wind speeds between 207 and 260 mph) touched down in Sarpy County around 4:30 PM. It entered southwest Douglas County, close to where I lived at the time, and continued northeast, cutting a swath 8 miles long right through the city of Omaha.
The billboard in this picture was located near 80th street where the tornado crossed I-80. Twelve inch I-Beams bent over like tooth picks!
It took several days to clear the debris from the streets so I could get close enough to take this photo. Seems like just yesterday.
Thought for the Day: Time flies but not memories.
