Look hard. Concentrate on the spot 1/3 down from the top and 1/3 to the left of the right border, and you will see the head of a Mallard hen. It’s amazing how she blends in with her background.
On May 1st Mama & Papa duck were seen cavorting in the front yard of a fully developed subdivision. A nest was first noticed around May 4th — that’s when this trail cam was set up. Ten eggs were counted on May 10th. Mama Duck has been there ever since, with no sign of her coming or going through the night — just a pesky cat at 2 AM. No sign of Papa duck either.
Gestation period for Mallards is 26-29 days, so we are anxiously awaiting the hatching.
