Caboose

Crossing railroad tracks is always dangerous. The endless stream of black coal cars, red cattle cars and bland box cars was mind-numbing ... Boring! So boring, passenger-car drivers would day-dream or even doze off waiting for the caboose to pass. The last car of a train is always the caboose. Always! This is my "caboose" … Continue reading Caboose

Happy Birthday!

Fireworks Stand July 4, 2022 -- the 246th birthday of the United States of America! Notwithstanding the worthless, no-display big-boom fireworks that prevail today, Independence Day is my all-time favorite holiday. Thought for the Day: The U. S. My wife wrote this prayer for the 2011 Thanksgiving celebration.  Since then, we have two additional little "butterballs", James and Ava, to be thankful for.  Nothing like grand children to make you thankful. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Thought for the Day:  My cooking is so bad, my kids thought Thanksgiving was to commemorate Pearl Harbor.   Phyliss … Continue reading Thanksgiving

Urban Cowboy

I met this fellow in  a Mesa, Arizona.  He worked at a place that was part museum, part living history and part tourist trap.  I found this guy in one of the barns; he said he was one of the docents, but I 'spect he was closer to a real gen-U-wine cowboy than he was … Continue reading Urban Cowboy
