
How’s the weather up there? Boy, those giraffes are tall! I was close to this magnificent creature, felt like within spitting distance (probably was … for him), no more than 30 yards in the Serengeti Plain, and it took all of my 300 mm lens to get this close-up.
I think this is a decent shot of the giraffe’s head, although I’d prefer not to be looking up its nostrils. A Rembrandt pose would be impossible without an extension ladder (or a mountain) to stand on. I like the way it shows the proportions of its ears, “horns”, big brown eyes, long eye lashes and the ubiquitous bird. It does nothing for showing its long nose, however.
Giraffes would make good cell towers.
